Abirochas was founded in a meeting held on January 23rd, 1998, in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil, being present the following state syndicate presidents:

The members of Abirochas are divided in five categories: natural members, permanent members, honorary members, honourable members and contributing members.

All unions, associations and syndicates are considered to be natural members of Abirochas, limited to 1(one) per federative unit, representing every company whose main activity is the industrialization of dimension and ornamental stones, marbles, granites and similar.

Every company headquartered within domestic territory, whose main activity is the industrialization of ornamental stones, marbles, granites and similar, may be considered a permanent member.

The Administrative management of the association established the criteria for the appointments to honorary and honourable members. The appointments to contributing members are under the criteria established by the Administrative management of Abirochas.
